THE DOG WHO LIKED SWIMMING....

Last saturday, when I was driving back home from a tournament held at a mountainous golf course in the central region of Portugal, I decided to stop for a break at a small town by a river. The temperature was mild, the scenery was beautiful and very few people on  the beach. As I was having a drink, suddenly I saw a dog taking the opportunity to do what I would have liked, too!

DO BIRDS RESEMBLE HUMAN BEINGS?

Although sparrows are loud, noisy, naughty and even disturbing, I often spend some minutes of my day simply gazing at these little birds, trying to distinguish between them. Some are small, some big, some leaders and some weaklings and then there are baby birds that I can easily find out as they are the most under confident ones. 
However, this evening I was not concerned about the aforesaid but I spent half an hour watching the type of war fare  the sparrows are capable of in a peaceful corner of a park. As I was watching them, suddenly a pigeon showed up and she promptly caught the piece of bread that the sparrows had been busy with. Looking at that scene, I thought of the world of human beings.... The stronger and bigger they are, either in size or in wealth, they always try to defeat the smaller and unfavoured.... Not always are the good things shared among equals, either .....

 

AN UNANSWERABLE QUESTION

We pay a person a compliment when we say “she/he works like a dog to provide for that family" and we insult someone when we say “he/she ain’t nothing but a pussy.”

Now I don't know if anyone can see the correlation here but cats and dogs go hand in hand, just as women and men do.

Dogs are just like men, hence the saying: He's a dog! Men, like dogs, rely on others to train them, bath them, play with them and feed them. When a dog is sick you are aware of it in that moment, just like a man.

However, cats on the other hand are just like women, hence the saying: I love pussy! Women,like cats, are self reliant, self serving, and born with the ability to already know what to do. When a cat is sick it is covered up so not to bother you, the cat will try to heal itself on its own. Just like a woman......

So the question here is the all time unanswerable. Who is better? Men or Women???
If you had not been born a human being and you could have made a choice between being born cat or dog, which of which would you have chosen??? I am curious to know....

IT'S GREAT TO BE A DOG....

If it itches, you can reach it. And no matter where it itches, no one will be offended if you scratch it in public.
No one notices if you have hair growing in weird places as you get older.
Personal hygiene is a blast: No one expects you to take a bath every day, and you don't even have to comb your own hair.

Having a wet nose is considered a sign of good health.

No one thinks less of you for passing gas. Some people might actually think you're cute.
Who needs a big home entertainment system? A bone or an old shoe can entertain you for hours.
You can spend hours just smelling stuff.

No one ever expects you to pay for lunch or dinner. You never have to worry about table manners, and if you gain weight, it's someone else's fault.
It doesn't take much to make you happy. You're always excited to see the same old people. All they have to do is leave the room for five minutes and come back.
Every garbage can looks like a cold buffet to you.

Despite all the above advantages, I always feel very happy for having been born a human being.

LAVENDER - A CAT REPELLENT?

Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia or Lavandula officinalis) may be the most widely used of all aromatherapy herbs. It's beautiful. It's romantic; evoking feelings of peace and well-being.
Many people  appreciate lavender for its aromatic fragrance, used in soaps, shampoos, air fresheners and sachets for scenting clothes.

Some people even like lavender to add a delicate flavour to desserts, cakes, and fruit drinks. Flowers added to a container of sugar for a few days will produce lavender-perfumed sugar to use in sweet recipes. You can also add lavender directly to cookies, muffins, scones etc. towards the end of the mixing process. About 6 or 7 dried lavender  flowers per cookie is a good quantity for your first experiment.I personally like to add a bit of lavender to salmon dishes, or as an alternative to rosemary in grilled or baked fish recipes. To me, this is a more successful combination than lavender in lemonade, sorbet, scones, or other sweet goodies.

However, cats do not respond to lavender the same way as most people do. On the other day, I hapened to get that evidence... see how the cat had turned his back to the lavender plants.

MY FRIENDS, THE CATS - SLIDE-SHOW

Cats are my favorite pets. I had two cats throughout my life: one Siam and one Persian but both passed away of an urinary tract infection. Since then, I have decided to have no more cats. However, my affection for cats has not ended. There is a cats family living in a mansion's garden that is located on my usual way to the spa. Sometimes I see all of them, others just one or two members of the family.

WORLD ANIMAL DAY in LISBON - SLIDESHOW

World Animal Day is celebrated each year on October 4. It started in Florence (Italy) in 1931 at a convention of ecologists. On this day, animal life in all its forms is celebrated. October 4 was originally chosen because it's the feast day of Francis of Assisi, a nature lover and patron saint of animals and the environment.
For my first time, I went to the dogs and cats get-together held at a riverfront public park. Pity, I missed the chance  to watch the blessing for the animals thad had been held some minutes prior to getting there.
I do not know the reason but I saw a few cats...
