PETE'S PICKS: FAMILY

I often wonder …
Where does the birth of a family start?
Is it with our parents or with our grandparents?
I never wonder….
With each new child a new family is born,
Values and virtues learned and passed down,
Like rings of an endless chain of life cycles,
Spinning happy or sad songs echoing around…

PETE'S PICKS: INDESTRUCTIBLE

You are not like some indestructible dog toys,
You never know when something might happen,
You only have a short time on the earth,
You should not forget time has no reverse.
Love the ones you hold close to your heart,
Love even the friends you do not know well,
Live your life as a unique piece of art,
Until you hear the ringing of the bell!

PETE'S PICKS: SHARE

I would love to make a get-together party
With friends, relatives and acquaintances,
On a stage of pure and fine crystal glass
Decorated with flowers and green grass,
I would love to gather with all of them,
Preferably, on a late-summer afternoon
At the very moment the sun would go down
So that anyone would not yet see the moon,
But enjoy that gorgeous glimmer
Getting reflected from a smooth ocean,
As if resembling fine pieces of silver
Floating on water in permanent motion.
Time would then come to beckon everyone
To dance and dance without stopping
Until the darkness of my special night
Would be illuminated by the moonlight,
Warm, bright, beautiful and mysterious,
And, wrapped in that scenario, very mine,
I would then share my days, my years,
Painted on canvas with simple words,
While my dreams and my desires
Would be like eternal sentiments
To be reborn in a garden of scents.

PETE'S PICK: JUKEBOX

If I could be a jukebox
I'ld never miss to play all the time
A waltz, a bolero or a rock,
In the hope of taking you to cloud nine.
On there together we would stay,
Relaxing after our first dance
Staged in our minds
At the rhythm of our hearts.
Would that be a dream?
Would that be an illusion?
If I could be a jukebox,
I would never stop playing
Any rhythm you might like
and
Coin after coin sliding into the slot
We might even dance the foxtrot!

PETE'S PICKS: ST. VALENTINE'S DAY

I do not have a calendar
I do not need it at all
St. Valentine’ s day
Is like a masquerade ball.
Why we need a specific day
To express our true love?
Let’s make it at anytime
and
Be neither an actor, nor a mime!

PETE'S PICKS: CATASTROPHE

Like the Champs-Elysees and other great European boulevards, Lisbon's main street ends at a large roundabout and a monument: the monument to the Marquis of Pombal, the prime minister responsible for the rebuilding of Lisbon following the Great Earthquake in 1755. It shows Pombal standing on a column with his hand on a lion (symbol of power) and his eyes directed to the downtown area that he rebuilt. Broken blocks of stone at the foot of the monument and tidal waves flooding the city symbolize the effects of the earthquake. The surrounding paving stones are decorated with a mosaic of Lisbon's coat of arms.

Tsunami, destruction, fires
Death, ruined city, confusion

PETE'S PICKS... #16... AUTOMATIC

They wanted an adventure
On a midsummer day
Nothing better could they find
Than hiring a Segway.
On that human transporter
With its automatic gears
They toured the town
From the castle to the piers.

PETE'S PICKS: TRANSPORTATION

If I were a little airplane
I would play hide-and-seek
With clouds and rainbows,
Free from getting airsick.
The sun would be my friend,
The rain never my enemy
But to the Moon I would send
The very best of me…

PETE' PICKS: FRIENDSHIP

Photobucket

Friendship has never been at school,
However, it speaks every language,
 Friendship happens at any age,
Either among human beings
Or between Man and animals
Even amidst animals in a cage.
Most of us got a taste of it
In the silken sail of our infancy,
Most of us swallowed it
 In the waves of adolescency
Or in the calm ocean of adult age,
 With different levels of intensity
On a more or less gorgeous stage,
Being it always kept in our hearts,
As if it were a valuable work of art,
Until the day the tide of time flows,
And.. we have to say the last hellos!

PETE'S PICKS #1 - BIRTHDAYS

Each birthday, one colour,
Sunset red, pacific blue,
Lemon, lime or tangerine.

Each birthday, one scent,
Lavender, rose, jasmine,
Cinnamon, vanilla or pumpkin.
Each birthday, one more stage
Of a time-restricted adventure,
Lived by an idiot or a sage.
Each birthday, many blessings,
I would say...
All wrapped in different paper,
Yet knotted in the same way!
